Architecture at Rimondato
Since 2008, Rimondato has hosted Hands-On Design Make workshops, that initially helped construct Rimondato. We are now engaging with local communities creating a range of reciprocal opportunities for architectural workshops in partnership with tangentfield.
“tangentfield” is a process not an outcome.
Ongoing Projects
Ruins Transformation
We are finally transforming the ruins back into a building! The footprint exists and our permission is almost there. We plan to use the new spaces to host longer term artist residencies, larger architecture workshops and residencies, and accommodate more helpers for harvests.
Timing: Spring 2024 foundation, Summer 2024 building
Citerna
Citerna is a classic medieval village, a short drive from Rimondato. Using the 2021 architecture students’ proposal as a base, there is a range of projects that we wish to develop including murals, a micro museum, opening the cantina, and a micro Orto (vegetable garden). In Summer 2024, we’ll work together to bring some of these into reality.
Timing: TBC
Rovigliano
We would like to transform this building into an Umbrian Rural Studio Architecture centre. In 2010, architectural students at Rimondato created the ‘Making Education;’ proposal, which has been received positively. We are looking for a range of skills to develop a Business Plan for how to make this happen.
The Rovigliano building is where the globally recognized Montessori education story began. Opened in 1902 as part of the new 20th-century approach to education, it was developed in Citta di Castello by Leopold and Alice Frachetti and Maria Montessori. This is a long term project to harness this building’s potential.
Timing: Last week in June First week July

Luca’s Stables
Help Luca, our friend and neighbour, house a cow. Planning and construction of fencing and stables. Re-roofing existing structures to make a space to accommodate animals.
